Another correction!

I mistakenly said that it was Captain Moroni's Stripling Warriors. Of course it was Helaman's Stripling Warriors. I am losing my mind not so slowly, but very surely! :) Hopefully, this will be the last of my mistakes for this week's blogging! :)

Correction

I was wrong about the title of the movie...the correct name is We Were Soldiers. But the title We Are Soldiers certainly applies to all of us today!

Mrs. Cassell's Quilt

We made a quilt for Genevieve's kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Cassell. The kids all put hand prints on it. My sister, Danielle, stitched the dedication. There are pictures of her and the kids throughout the year. It turned out really cute and was fun to make. I have a lot to learn about quilting, though.

End of School Year Fun

The kids had a great time at their end of school LUAU. Our PTA really goes all out. They have water slides, games, and this year bungee trampoline jumping. Ian and Ellen were able to come half of the day and help. It was fun to have all of our kids at the same school for a while. Especially since all but Ian will be going to a different school next year.

Our garden

We finally started a garden in our yard this spring. Its doing well. We hope to be able to protect from the rabbits that were just born nearby. Also, found a snake skin and watched a tarantula digs its hole six inches away. With all of that, I forget to worry about real threats like bugs! The kids are really enjoying planting and watching it grow. I hope we have a good harvest, especially the tomatoes and cucumbers!

We Are Soldiers

This past week we had a disturbing situation. Our oldest, Ian, had to tell his
World Geography teacher that he did not watch rated R movies and was excused from class for two days. (He played video games in the library...our tax dollars at work!) The movie was We Are Soldiers. It got me thinking how youth today are definitely soldiers in the fight against Satan. The fight is real and it is an everyday battle. I am so grateful for Ian's example to stand steadfast and immovable. Today as our handsome young men all passed the sacrament in their uniform of the priesthood, I was reminded of Captain Moroni's stripling warriors. I hope I am teaching as those mothers taught, that my children will have no fear when facing thier battles that, "they had been taught by their mother, that if they did not doubt, God would deliver them. And they rehearsed unto me the words of their mothers, saying: We do not doubt our mothers knew it." (Alma 56:47-48)

By the way, I talked to the principal at the school and she assures me she will take care of it. But I think there will still be many battles to fight.
